Green.
Deep, lush, damp, quiet.
Hiking in the woods of Wisconsin.
One foot ahead of the other.
Eyes peeled for flowers.
This is God's world.
Beautiful and untouched.
Why haven't I noticed this before?
Our feet tread cautiously over stones and fallen branches.
It is so quiet you can hear yourself think.
It feels like we are in another, undiscovered world.
Away from civilization.
Away from phones ringing.
Away from email checking.
Away from our to-do list that never ends.
All that matters is staying on the trail.
It is easier
being green.
